Introduction

Hello! Today I am reviewing an excellent game for gamers of all types, Terraria.

Story Overview

Terraria is a sandbox adventure game that mixes exploration, combat, and building. You play as a person stranded on a randomly generated world. Your only goal is to survive, using weapons and tools created using the resources found throughout the world. You may also battle monsters, fight evil bosses, and explore, all of which you will need to do if you hope to progress.

Gameplay overview

Terraria is a sandbox game focused around material collection, building, combat, and the freedom to kind of just do whatever you want. Want to build a giant pig? Sure, go ahead and build it. Want to make a monster farm using the game’s in-depth wiring system? The sky is the limit. Aside from being encouraged to beat bosses to get better gear and access to better materials, there is no set course for how to play Terraria. The player can progress using numerous strategies and play styles. Some examples of ways to play the game are (note, these are just play styles and not actual characters):

The Builder: If you love the building of Terraria, you can approach most of the game’s problems from a building/engineering perspective. A boss can be easily defeated by setting up a trap room that encloses the boss and slowly kills it. If you’re low on money, you can make a farm that forcibly spawns and kills enemies to let you collect their money drops.

The Warrior: If you like the extensive combat systems of Terraria, which includes massive amounts of weapons, armor, and accessories which affect the player, the game can also be approached mainly from a combat perspective. If you’re looking for some challenge, try fighting bosses head on with minimalist arenas where it’s just you and your weapon. Running low on money? Go out at night and kill some monsters to take their loot.

The Prepared Player: In Terraria, planning is key. Caving and exploring can go incredibly poorly if the player goes without the necessary items. Saving money to buy items from NPCs (non-playable characters) or collecting resources prior to a spelunking or exploration trip is a great way to insure safety and fast advancement.

There are tons of ways to play Terraria, and there is almost certainly a way for you.

The Actual Review Part

I love Terraria because there is always something to do. Whether it’s to get a new pickaxe, craft a new sword, or find a new NPC, there is always an adventure waiting in Terraria. Even when there isn’t, the player can just build their own adventure! Also, the game has procedurally generated worlds, so each play through can be substantially different in what weapons you might get, blocks you have easy access to, or enemies you will have to fight. All these reasons make me love Terraria!

Thank you for reading my review!!! As always, I am super excited to write more in the future!
